Innovate To Achieve Your Dream Day
Faced with a national shortage of wedding and civil partnership registrars in the UK, Dine is encouraging couples to innovate in order to ensure the wedding of their dreams.
Changes to the law around 15 years ago led to vastly increased demand for non-religious ceremonies. While many people these days don’t want a religious wedding service, they do want a personal and sincere ceremony to mark this life changing event and to celebrate it with their friends and family.
Registrars are being asked to conduct up to seven ceremonies a day, forcing disappointed couples to delay their big day until a registrar becomes available. In the face of these problems, many couples are having to plan for weddings as much as 24-36 months ahead when previously the norm was 12-18 months.
Our MD Daniel Gill says: “More and more people are taking a more continental approach and getting married at the local register office with only close family and friends in attendance, followed by a big party sometimes as much as a week later at their chosen venue where they can personalise their wedding ceremony as much as they like. That is what I chose to do when I married Helen some fifteen years ago. We had the legalities with family and close friends at Harrogate Register Office and followed it up with a humanist wedding the next day which everything we wanted it to be.”
“Yorkshire has a wealth of inspiring locations for weddings and more flexibility on which of them could be licensed for wedding ceremonies would open the market up for couples, as well as enabling stately homes and farms to generate sustainable income.”
