5 Magical Places to Celebrate Mother’s Day in Yorkshire in 2023
With March fast approaching, we explore five excellent spots to treat your Mum to afternoon tea in Yorkshire this Mother’s Day 2023. Mothering Sunday will fall on Sunday, 19 March this year, and what better way to celebrate than taking your Mum out for lunch on a beautiful spring day in Yorkshire.
Rise Hall, Rise: East Yorkshire
First up is one of our very own Dine venues – Rise Hall in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Rise Hall is a magnificent Grade II* listed stately home near Beverley and 15 miles from Hull.
This Mother’s Day, Rise Hall is hosting a special afternoon tea event complete with a house tour. The afternoon tea menu includes a selection of sandwiches and savouries, including roast beef, rocket and horseradish cream sandwiches, chicken, tarragon, and apricot sausage rolls. These savoury delights are served alongside a selection of sweet treats, including freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberries, served alongside English Breakfast tea, Earl Grey tea or Dine’s speciality blend coffee.
Afternoon tea will accompany live musical entertainment from a pianist to create a wonderful atmosphere.
Guests can book at 1 pm, 2pm or 3pm, with adult bookings priced at £29.95 and children at £13.95.
Betty’s, Harrogate: North Yorkshire
Betty’s is an excellent pitstop for lunch or afternoon tea for those planning a Mother’s Day trip to Harrogate. As well as serving a selection of sandwiches and savouries in the main team room, Betty’s is famous for its afternoon tea (priced at £39.95 per person). Betty’s afternoon tea includes delights from smoked salmon, prawn, garlic and saffron mayonnaise sandwiches to passionfruit and lemon macaroons and pink champagne or prosecco to refresh your palate
One thing to remember is that Betty’s doesn’t take bookings in its main tearoom, but you can book a spot for afternoon tea in the Imperial Room (we highly recommend doing this if you want to beat the queues!).
To make it extra special, you could even round the day off with a session in Harrogate Baths to enjoy a relaxing soak after lunch.
The Mansion, Leeds: West Yorkshire
For those of you based near Leeds, The Mansion is another of Dine’s venues hosting a special Mother’s Day afternoon tea event in the beautiful Garden Room overlooking the abundant greenery of Roundhay Park. Bookings for the day include entertainment from a pianist and a tour of the richly historical, Grade-2* listed building. You’ll also be able to walk off the sweet treats and immerse yourself in nature in the 700 acres of beautiful parkland.
Adult bookings are priced at £29.95, and a mini afternoon tea option is available for children at £13.95. It’s always best to book in advance to secure your spot, as our afternoon tea events are always in demand for special occasions.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton: West Yorkshire
Blending art and dining, Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) is hosting afternoon tea this Mother’s Day, served in the Roger Evans Auditorium at YSP Centre.
The Sculpture Park’s afternoon tea will include classic sandwiches, savouries, scones, and sweet treats, alongside tea, coffee, or fizz and can be booked at 12.00 or 14.30.
Guests can stroll through the grounds and explore the Robert Indiana exhibition of paintings, prints and sculptures, four of Damien Hirst’s famous sculptures, Anne Montgomerie: Hand Me Downs and Daniel Arsham: Relics in the Landscape, along with several other exhibitions.
Howsham Hall, Howsham: North Yorkshire
Finally, Howsham Hall is another Dine venue in Yorkshire hosting afternoon tea this Mothering Sunday. Similarly to the afternoon tea event at other Dine venues, guests can enjoy a tour of the grade I listed stately Jacobean home and entertainment from a pianist.
